Hi. Thank you for watching this 3rd video in our video series. I’m Jody Chaffin, and today we are discussing who our typical customer is. In the past five years, we have developed mobile apps for a wide variety of tasks and industries. However, our typical customers fall into one of two categories. They are either an entrepreneur with an idea for a mobile app to build a business around or have a business idea that relies heavily on a mobile app component, or they are an internal innovator at an existing company that understands that the future of technology includes mobile apps. These are the two types of people that make up our customer base, but they come from a variety of industries or walks of life. We have worked with entrepreneurs from the logging industry and innovation leaders within large hospital systems.
The one thing they all have in common is that they understand the points that we discussed in our second video titled, “Why Mobile Apps?” If you haven’t watched that video, I would encourage you to view it as well.
Let’s discuss each group in more detail. The entrepreneurs we work with come from a variety of backgrounds, but they all have an idea and a dream. Most know their industry inside and out and see the potential that a mobile app would have to revolutionize how things are done. However, rarely do they have the technical expertise to turn their idea into reality. Most of the time, they have a fairly complete vision of their idea, but not always. Many times, they haven’t been able to fully develop their theory because they don’t know what, if any, technical limitations exist. We can work with an entrepreneur regardless of how fully they have developed their concept. We enjoy helping people see the full potential that can be accomplished. Other times, people walk in with a fully sketched out plan, and we validate it for them and then are able to quickly move from concept to reality.
Sometimes entrepreneurs are really knowledgeable in their industry and know how a mobile app can improve it, but they don’t always know much about starting a business. In future videos we will address several topics related to the resources and things to know when starting a business.
The internal innovators that we work with also come from a variety of industries, but what they all have in common is the awareness that the future of technology is mobile and that to stay relevant, they have to embrace that. There are a variety of reasons that spark their interest in mobile apps. It could be that they are losing sales or losing contact with their customers. It could be that they are bogged down in labor-intensive processes that require huge amounts of paperwork that can now be greatly reduced by putting mobile apps in the field where the data is collected. It may be that they are visionaries that see new opportunities that exist with today’s technologies that didn’t exist a year or two ago.
Regardless of the reason the internal innovator has decided they need a mobile app, they typically don’t have an internal team with the experience to quickly take their ideas and turn them into viable apps. That’s when they reach out to The App Pros. We can work with them in a few different ways. We can come in and take on the entire project as an outside resource, we can serve as consultants to their internal development team and teach them how to develop mobile apps, or we can engage anywhere in between. Many times, we are brought in to do the majority of the design and development work, but we work alongside one or two members of their team teaching them as we go. That way, they get the best of both scenarios as the project progresses quickly, but they begin to develop the necessary skillsets internally.
I hope this has helped you understand with whom we typically work. If you have questions or would like to provide feedback on this video, we would love to hear from you.
